Food Truck!

Of course we had to celebrate National Food Truck Week with a food truck! Huge thanks to our Activity Director Rhonda Connop for the brains and creativity to plan this! Also a big thank you to all our staff for making this a success! Our residents had a wonderful time!

Ranked #1 Facility in Iowa!

We are proud to share the American Health Care Association’s Top Line Report has announced Sunrise Terrace as the Top Ranked #1 facility out of 428 Skilled Nursing Facilities in the State of Iowa!
This rating is determined by a facility’s last three annual health inspection surveys, multiple measures of resident quality, and current staffing data.
Sunrise Terrace has been rated a CMS 5-Star Facility for over 6 straight years and receives not only an Overall 5-Star rating, but “5-Star” in each of the three areas – a rarity among nursing homes!

Spring Fling 2016

Our annual Spring Fling heralded the arrival of spring in mid-March.  The dining room was decorated for the event, residents donned their best, the kitchen staff created a luscious meal, activity staff waited tables, and Mary Benson provided dinner music on the piano.  It is fun to do something different and see all our people dressed up!

Winfield – Mt. Union Prom Dates Visit Sunrise

Some of the high school students heading to Prom stopped by at Sunrise Terrace to show off their dresses and tuxes.  We always love to have kids come in and we were amazed how wonderful they looked – and how Prom has changed over the years!  Thank you to all who took time out of their busy day to brighten ours!  Caitlin Jamison won the Casey’s Gift card from the drawing we had for those who signed up.

Apple Blossom Alpaca Ranch

We visited the Apple Blossom Alpaca Ranch by Wayland, and we were delighted to meet the Pattysons’ and their alpacas.  A baby (or creea) was born about an hour before we arrived, so we were very fortunate to get to see the little one!  We had a picnic lunch while watching the alpacas graze, learned about the history and care of the animals, and saw items made from alpaca fiber.  It was very educational and interesting.  We thought about asking for a few to keep out on the golf course….
